Diego works with clients to understand and respond to complex regulatory and public policy challenges. With experience in the UK, continental Europe and the United States, he brings together knowledge of the rapidly evolving competitive landscape at a global level and an acute awareness of the context in specific geographies.
Diego is an expert in consumer financial technology. Prior to joining Fingleton, he was Associate Director for Financial Regulation Studies at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC, where his work helped shape the regulatory environment around payments and consumer credit. Before that, he was Head of Financial Services and Tech Policy at the Institute of Economic Affairs in London.
Educated at McGill and the University of Oxford, Diego has also taught Economics at the University of Buckingham. Originally from Bilbao in northern Spain, he is fluent in English, French, German and Spanish.
