Dermot Nolan, Fingleton Director and former CEO of Ofgem, gave his views on the energy crisis to Sky News this morning, making 3 key points:

1. Like many other European countries, the UK is still very dependent on certain types of gas - a vulnerability that has made us very exposed to the market and resulted in high gas prices which will last for a period of time.
2. This crisis is a wake-up call to many countries. To implement change we must increase investment in and education about renewable energy sources.
3. Things aren't going to change in the very short term but the current crisis does illustrate the importance of moving forward on achieving our climate change goals.
